The SigCj project was formed by Martin Pincott, Ian Smith and Peter Bragg of the UK Visual DataFlex Special Interest Group. The main objective for collaborating on this project was to stop each of us reinventing the wheel. After much deliberation it was decided to make the project available under the Open Source GNU LGPL.
By making the project Open Source it is hoped that other people will not only benefit from the work, but also contribute to the project, either by adding features to the controls already done or by creating the classes for the controls that are still to be done.
Some controls are simple, such as the Push Button, and all of the properties and methods have been exposed. Other controls are in reality complex components, such as the Report Control, and only some of the functionality has been implemented. Additional features are added when required.
One of the requirements of the GNU LGPL is that any enhancement or bug fixes done by the users are put back into the project for the benefit of all the users. We sincerely hope this will happen.
The ultimate goal is to create a set of classes that DataFlex developers can trust and use without having to fully understand COM.
This project is actively supported by Data Access Worldwide.
